Bowdoin College Student-Managed Investment Fund

About

The Arctic Fund is Bowdoin's official student-managed investment fund, established to provide a platform for students to engage in hands-on, real-world investing. Initially created in 2023, The Arctic Fund serves to help Bowdoin students develop the financial and investment skills needed to support their job search and career goals, enabling them to compete more effectively in the job market. We aim to cultivate a driven and diverse community focused on achieving strong returns while serving the common good.

Strategy

The Arctic Fund employs a disciplined bottom-up investment approach focused on identifying undervalued companies with strong fundamentals and sustainable competitive advantages. Investment ideas originate at the portfolio manager level, where teams collaborate to conduct rigorous fundamental research and develop detailed investment pitches. The portfolio typically holds 15 equity long positions with a targeted holding period of 12 - 36 months.
